Dolores Herrero (B.A. 1986, U. of Zaragoza, Diploma of Excellency and Academic Medal; Humanities National Research Grant. Spanish Ministry of Education 1987-88); Ph.D. 1993, U. of Zaragoza, Excellency Award) is a Full Professor of English and Postcolonial literature at the University of Zaragoza. She was also awarded an Indian Government Grant for the Mobility of Visiting Academics to teach literature at the Universities of Hyderabad and Tezpur (India), and an Aragonese Government Grant for the Mobility of Visiting Academics to teach and carry out research at the Universities of New South Wales, ANU and Wollongong (Australia). She has supervised and defended six PhD dissertations, and two more are well under way.

She was the chief editor of Miscelánea: A Journal of English and American Studies from 1998 till 2006. She was Head of the English and German Department from 2016 till 2018; and Deputy Head from 2008 till 2009, and as of May 2021. She was also the Coordinator of the “Master in Textual and Cultural Studies in English,” University of Zaragoza, from 2014 till 2017. She was the Secretary of EASA (European Association of Studies on Australia) from 2011 till 2014, and External Examiner of the Research Centre for the Study of Postcolonial Studies of the University of Liège (Belgium), and the Universities of Tezpur and Wollongong. She is also a member of the editorial committee of a number of prestigious journals.

Since 2003 she has been a member of the consolidated research team “Contemporary Narrative in English.” She has participated in several competitive projects, the most recent of which is “Literature of(f) Limits: Pruriversal Cosmologies and Relational Identities in Contemporary Writing in English” (PID2021-124841NB-100), of which she is the main researcher. She is also a member of IEDIS (Instituto Universitario de Investigación de Empleo, Sociedad Digital y Sostenibilidad), and part of the board of reviewers of the AEI (Agencia Estatal de Investigación-BECA). She and her research group are members of the research network RED LEAP21 on Contemporary Anglophone Literatures, led by Prof. Isabel Carrera (University of Oviedo). She often collaborates with colleagues from the universities of Barcelona, Liège, Verona, Aveiro, NSW (Australia) and Hyderabad (India), and supervises one ‘Juan de la Cierva Incorporación’ research fellow (MCIN/AEI /10.13039/501100011033, 2018-2013). Herrero is a specialist in Australian, Indian and African fiction, as well as postcolonial cinema, on which she has published extensively. She has also translated one novel (Merlinda Bobis’s Fish-Hair Woman/ Mujer Pelo-Pez).
