ALEJANDRO NADAL RUIZ

Alejandro Nadal Ruiz is a member of the Department of English and German Philology at the University of Zaragoza. He currently works at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences in Teruel, after he signed a three-year contract as assistant teacher in September 2022.

Alejandro graduated in English Studies at the University of Zaragoza in 2017, receiving the Extraordinary Degree Award. In 2018 he obtained the Master’s Degree in Teacher for Mandatory Secondary Education. In 2019 he completed the Master’s Degree in English Literature and Culture and their Social Impact at the National Distance Education University (UNED), after defending with honours his MA thesis entitled “‘This Is My Place and This Is Where I Belong’: Memory and Place in Jean Rhys’s Wide Sargasso Sea.”

He is currently finishing his PhD thesis on trauma and limit-case testimony in Jean Rhys’s modernist novels, under the supervision of Dr. Bárbara Arizti Martín, which is due to be defended by mid-2023. As for his main research interests, he has worked on memory studies, trauma studies, and the rewritings of classical texts, and is currently paving the way for a new project that sets out to explore a corpus of self-representational memoirs by British Romani writers.
