PAULA SERRANO ELENA

Paula Serrano Elena is currently working as a lecturer in the Department of English studies at the University of Zaragoza, where she teaches subjects related to English language acquisition and skills. She graduated in English Philology at the University of Zaragoza in 2020 and in 2021, she obtained the master’s degree in North American Studies, after defending with honors her MA thesis “The Power of the Ideal: an Analysis of the Evolution and the Effects of the Ideal of Motherhood in Literature from the Nineteenth to the Late Twentieth”. Paula is currently writing her PhD thesis on the representation of mothers’ mental health in post-pandemic North American narratives, under the supervision of Dr. Silvia Martínez Falquina. Her main research interests are feminist criticism, gender, and motherhood studies as applied to North American women’s literature. She was a visiting PhD student at the University of Uppsala (Sweden) where she shared her research work with the Family and Kinship Group (Famkin).
